Welcome Bowie Counseling Department

Mission

Our mission is to provide our students with the knowledge and skills to be successful both at Bowie and in life.  Our comprehensive guidance program is comprised with various activities and events for our students and parents including: academic planning, mental health support, classroom guidance lessons, presentations, etc. 

Upcoming Events

  • Course Scheduling Conferences- Counselors will meet with current students to review graduation requirements and walk them through filling out their choice sheets. 
    • Rising 10th Grade Conferences- January 12th & 13th (World Geography Classes)
    • Rising 11th Grade Conferences- January 14th & 15th (World History Classes)
    • Rising 12th Grade Conferences- January 21st & 22nd (English 3 Classes)
  • All Current Students' Choice Sheets Due- February 4th & 5th
    • Students will enter in their selections into the system in their math classes. 
  • Dawg Show Campus Preview Day- February 6th
    • Zoned 8th Grade students will visit Bowie High School to tour the campus hear from current students, and experience the Bulldog spirit and community. 
  • Student & Parent Advising for Current Students- February 17th
  • Incoming 9th Grade Showcase Night- February 19th 5:30-7:00PM
    • Students and their families are invited to explore Bowie High School's program and meet with representatives from each department, club, and organization. 
  • Middle School Classroom Advising Visits - High school counselors will visit middle schools to review graduation requirements, explain course options, and guide students in planning their high school schedules.  
    • Small Middle School- February 23rd-24th
    • Gorzycki Middle School- February 26th -27th
    • Bailey Middle School- March 2nd -3rd
    • Kealing Middle School- March 4th
    • Lively Middle School- March 4th
    • Covington Middle School- March 5th
  • All Incoming 9th Grade Choice Sheet Due- March 6th

  • Course Change Deadline- May 28th

National Honor Society Peer Tutoring

  • Peer tutoring available for all subjects!
  • Students will be matched with an NHS student that has previously taken the course and is strong in the subject.
