Seniors~ FAFSA/ TASFA/ Opt out Graduation Requirement:

FAFSA/ TASFA/ Opt out Due 4/28:

Seniors, don't forget to submit your confirmation that you completed either the FAFSA or TASFA by April 28, 2023.  If you're not planning on completing either of these forms, you must submit your opt out form through the confirmation google link provided below.  This will ensure you're able to walk the stage at graduation and be able to pick up your diploma.  (This is only one of the graduation requirements so please check in with your counselor that you're on track to graduate).  Below are helpful steps on how to complete these forms.  Please note, you must only complete 1 and not all three.

FAFSA - This is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and if you plan to attend a 2 or 4 year school after graduation, you are encouraged to complete this application.  I know some families feel that they won't qualify for aid, however, each school will determine what your need is based on the total cost of attendance on their campus and your estimated family contribution.

TASFA - The Texas Application for State Financial Aid is an application available for those students who are not eligible to complete the FAFSA and are wanting to attend a Texas school following graduation.  This application is not digital but can be found here:

Opt out form - This form is for those students who are planning on taking a gap year, enlisting in the military, or will be starting a career right out of high school.  Other students may be eligible to complete this form and if you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to reach out!  The form can be found here:

Step by step guide: The 2023-2024 updated guide will be posted soon but here is last years step by step guide.  The application hasn't changed much since last year!

What is needed to fulfill the graduation requirement?

All students will be required to submit confirmation that they completed one of these forms.  This form will be needed in order for students to walk the stage at graduation or to pick up your diploma.  Final deadline will be in late April.  In order to ensure that all documents have been received, I will not be able to accept any paper copies or emails with screenshots of these documents.  All form confirmations should be uploaded to this google drive:

FAFSA - Students will need to take a screenshot of their FAFSA dashboard with their name clearly on the image and showing that the 2023 - 2024 FAFSA has been completed.  (This is the application that needs to be completed.  The 2022- 2023 FAFSA is only for those students graduating early and attending college during this school year) Please make sure that the student's name is clearly included in the screenshot.

TASFA - Because this document is a paper form and contains sensitive income information, I will only need a screenshot of your university application portal showing that they have received your TASFA.  You are also welcome to send me a screenshot of the email showing your school has received this form.  Please make sure that your name is clearly listed on this email.

Opt out form - Please upload the completed form to the google drive.
