Greetings, Bulldog Nation! LOCKDOWN DRILL - Please be aware that Bowie will be conducting a lockdown drill on Thursday, February, 10, 2022. Lockdown drills are designed to test procedures for removing people from a life-threatening situation inside the school building. These actions include ensuring all students are out of the halls, classroom lights are turned off, and doors are locked. TEA requires that each campus and district facility hold at least one lockdown drill per semester.

Greetings, Bulldog Nation! FINE ARTS ANNOUNCEMENT - I am thrilled to announce that Bowie’s new theater, opening in the fall of 2022, will be named the Betsy Cornwell Performing Arts Center! Betsy Cornwell has been the head director of the James Bowie High School Starlight Theatre Company since the school’s opening in 1988, making her name synonymous with the program. COURSE SELECTION - Over the last three weeks, the Bowie counseling team visited classrooms to discuss graduation requirements and course sequences with all students in grades 9-11. During the counselors’ presentations, students were provided a digital template to plan their courses for the 2022-23 school year. Please take some time to review this document with your child and discuss their course selections. There are helpful course scheduling resources available on the JBHS website for your reference.

Greetings, Bulldog Nation! BELL SCHEDULE FOR 01/05/2022 - Classes will resume for the spring semester on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. When students arrive on campus, they will report directly to their Advisory class. Each student’s Advisory teacher’s name and classroom number is listed on their schedule in the Student Self-Serve tile in the Austin ISD Portal. The bell schedule for January 5 will be slightly modified: January 5th Modified Bell Schedule 9:05-9:27 Advisory; 9:33-11:03 1st Period; 11:09-4:35 Resume Regular Bell Schedule.

Greetings, Bulldog Nation! REFLECTIONS ON CAMPUS SAFETY - There is no greater burden shouldered by campus leaders than that of keeping students safe. In the wake of rumors circulating in social media earlier this week about a possible gun threat and after shenanigans of a rogue substitute teacher last Friday -- all in the context of the recent school shooting in Michigan -- I recognize that some in our community are feeling particularly anxious or on extra high-alert when it comes to the safety and security of students.
