Lockdown drills are designed to test procedures for removing people from a life-threatening situation inside the school building. These actions include ensuring all students are out of the halls, classroom lights are turned off, and doors are locked. TEA requires that each campus and district facility hold at least one lockdown drill per semester.

COURSE SELECTION - Over the last three weeks, the Bowie counseling team visited classrooms to discuss graduation requirements and course sequences with all students in grades 9-11. During the counselors’ presentations, students were provided a digital template to plan their courses for the 2022-23 school year. When students arrive on campus, they will report directly to their Advisory class. In the wake of rumors circulating in social media earlier this week about a possible gun threat and after shenanigans of a rogue substitute teacher last Friday -- all in the context of the recent school shooting in Michigan -- I recognize that some in our community are feeling particularly anxious or on extra high-alert when it comes to the safety and security of students.
