NEW AUDITORIUM NAMING - I am excited to announce that Austin ISD is beginning the naming process for our new auditorium which will open at the start of the 2022-23 school year. You can visit the AISD facility renaming website to submit your nomination, now through Monday, November 8. I want to thank our Campus Advisory Council—composed of staff, parents, and community members—for graciously volunteering to serve as the renaming committee. The CAC recently voted in favor of naming the auditorium in honor of Ms. Betsy Cornwell.

NATIONAL BULLYING PREVENTION MONTH: Today, October 20, is Unity Day for Bullying Prevention Month, and therefore, an appropriate time to discuss how we are working to disrupt bullying in all forms. Bowie utilizes several strategies including campus-wide student lessons, No Place for Hate events, targeted counseling interventions, and more. On-going staff training is also a key component.

Dear Bowie High School families, As you may have heard, there is a video that has been shared among students showing a physical altercation at Bowie. Greetings, Bulldog Nation! EXAM INCENTIVES RESUME: To promote attendance, Bowie implemented a semester exam incentive program several years ago. The program allows qualifying students to replace their exam grade with a higher semester average in up to two classes. However, to stress the importance of individual responsibility in halting the spike of infection and severe illness caused by Covid-19, Bowie suspended the semester exam attendance incentive program for the 1st nine weeks grading cycle of the 2021-22 school year.

Greetings, Bulldog Nation! FALL SOCIAL EVENT - This year the traditional Homecoming Dance has been reimagined as a Fall Social. Jointly hosted by the PTSA and Bowie Student Council, this on-campus event is scheduled for the evening of Friday Saturday, October 23, 2021. The event will be limited to Bowie students; non-Bowie guests will not be admitted. Event times and more information about tickets, safety protocols, and all the fun activities are coming soon.
