Greetings, Bulldog Nation! UIL ELIGIBILITY - You have likely heard that Austin ISD transitioned from a six, six weeks academic calendar to a nine weeks report card cycle for the 2021-22 school year. To calculate the semester average in a course, each of the two nine weeks report card grades will comprise 40% of the grade and the semester final exam will count 20% of the grade. The University Interscholastic League (UIL) establishes the rules for all UIL activities and standards of eligibility for students to earn the privilege of representing their schools in interschool contests.

Parents and Guardians, Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve experienced a disturbing amount of vandalism across the campus. The vandalism at Bowie is mostly in student restrooms and has included removing or bending stall doors, ripping off all of the soap, as well as both types of paper dispensers from the walls or stalls, and partially dismantling or disabling toilets and urinals. There has also been an increased amount of graffiti or stickers placed on walls and windows around campus.

Greetings, Bulldog Nation! BOWIE SPIRIT - Thank you for attending Back-to-School Night last Thursday. Over one hundred families attended in-person sessions and visited classrooms, while hundreds more tuned in virtually to learn more about Bowie’s plan to support students and build community. Your interest in “all-things-Bowie'' was further evidenced by the great turn-out for the PTSA-sponsored Bulldogs and Hotdogs community event on Saturday night. We are keeping the enthusiasm going this week with Unity Day on Friday, September 17.

Greetings, Bulldog Nation! BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT: Bowie will host its annual Back-to-School Night for parents/guardians on Thursday, September 9, 2021. In order to provide a virtual option, each teacher has created a brief presentation and will post it on their course homepage in BLEND by Tuesday, September 7, to give you the same information you would have received by walking your student’s schedule in previous years. If those presentations answer all of your questions to start this school year, you don’t even have to leave your house next Thursday!

Our enrollment has grown to almost 2900 in the last week. Despite the challenges associated with Covid-19 and bond renovations, both the staff and student climate on campus are overwhelmingly positive. You belong at Bowie and we’re so happy you are here!
